1. All European sellers

Registering a VAT number is the first step for sellers on the European platform to complete tax compliance.

VAT compliance self-inspection methods:

Tax Registration: Collaborate with a tax agent, submit the necessary documents to the tax bureau to apply for a VAT tax number. Once you have obtained a valid VAT tax number, log in to the Amazon seller platform and submit the tax number.

  1. Comprehensive declaration: The declaration includes not only sales records but also EU warehouse transfer records, such as VAT declaration forms, EU sales lists (ECL), Instrasta, and all locally required reports.
  2. Pay on time: Pay the corresponding taxes according to the declaration within the prescribed time.

II. Sellers in Germany

Sellers in Germany, please pay special attention: if you sell the following types of goods in Germany, you also need to meet compliance requirements such as the German Packaging Law (LUCID) and the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE): 1. German Packaging Law (LUCID)

If you sell packaged goods in Germany, including primary packaging (i.e., product packaging) and secondary packaging (i.e., delivery packaging), you need to upload the LUCID registration number in advance and pass Amazon's verification;

  1. Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in Germany

If you sell products in Germany that are subject to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive, Amazon will collect and verify your WEEE registration number (WEEE-Reg.-Nr.).

III. EU Sellers

According to the EU product safety regulations (known as the EU Market Regulation (EU) 2019/1020), if you sell products with the CE mark (such as electrical appliances and toys) in the EU, you need to have a person located within the EU as the product compliance contact ("EU responsible person"). If you sell products with the CE mark in the EU but do not have an EU responsible person, it is illegal.

If the goods you sell bear the CE mark and are manufactured outside the EU, you need to ensure the following two points to fulfill the EU product safety regulations:

  1. Such goods have a responsible person in the EU;
  2. Contact information of the person in charge. Such labels can be attached to the goods, packaging of the goods, parcels, or accompanying documents.
