Amazon's US site has released an important notice announcing significant revisions to the shipping and handling times for all goods shipped from outside the United States starting from October 25, 2024. This change will have a significant impact on merchants engaged in cross-border e-commerce business, so sellers should pay close attention to it.
1、 Transportation time update
Starting from October 25, 2024, the transportation time from China to the mainland of the United States (excluding Hawaii, Alaska, and US territories) will be adjusted to two options: 2-4 working days and 14-20 working days. This means that the maximum transportation time has been reduced from 28 working days to 20 working days.
For sellers who are responsible for their own delivery, if the current set shipping time is 14-28 working days, the system will automatically adjust it to 14-20 working days. However, completing delivery tasks within the new time frame may bring certain challenges, requiring sellers to have efficient logistics partners and sound logistics management systems.
2、 Processing time update
Amazon will set more accurate processing times for SKUs shipped from warehouses outside the United States based on the actual processing time of past orders. For sellers without specific SKU shipment records, the manually set processing time will continue to be used.
Starting from October 25th, if the processing time set by the seller is two days or more slower than the actual required time, the system will automatically adopt a more reasonable processing time setting, and this feature cannot be disabled. Sellers may apply for manual processing time for SKUs in certain special circumstances, such as customized products, large or heavy items.
However, for most self shipping sellers, ensuring processing time meets Amazon's new standards may require improving inventory management and order processing processes to increase processing speed.
Amazon has implemented these adjustments to help sellers maintain good account health. After enabling automated processing time, the seller's delayed delivery rate will be guaranteed and will not be compromised due to delivery delays. However, sellers still face significant challenges in meeting these new standards.
