According to the latest regulations, Amazon will collect the country of origin (COO) information of goods dispatched through its logistics (FBA) last-mile logistics program from today, in order to comply with the EU-UK customs trade regulations. Sellers must provide proof of origin (COO) information for goods before December 31, 2024, otherwise they will be prohibited from selling!
What is COO?
If a product is entirely produced or manufactured in one country/region, that country/region is generally considered the country/region of origin of the product. If the production or manufacturing of a product involves multiple countries/regions, the country/region of origin is usually the place where the product undergoes the last "substantial transformation".
According to the EU-UK Customs Trade Regulation, Amazon will collect the country of origin (COO) information for products delivered through the Amazon Logistics (FBA) final mile logistics program.
What impact will COO have on sellers?
If the seller fails to provide the COO information for the relevant products by December 31st, the following impacts will be imposed on the seller's Amazon logistics products:
For the existing selected products: Your products will be deemed non-compliant and will be prohibited from cross-border sales.
For new product selection: If you do not provide the country/region of origin information for the product, you will not be able to successfully create a new product.
How can sellers fulfill COO compliance?
Firstly, sellers need to download the "Category Product Report" on their own (path: Seller University > Data Reports > Inventory Reports > Category Product Report) to view SKUs that do not provide COO information. If the "Category Product Report" option is not displayed on this page, you can contact seller support to obtain access to the "Category Product Report".
Method 1: Upload one by one
Step 1: Select "Inventory > Manage All Inventory" and enter the editing page.
Step 2: The COO attribute value may appear in different locations on the following four pages depending on the product type. You need to open each of these pages and use "Ctrl+F" to search for the keyword "Country of Origin", and select its country of origin information from the searched attributes
a. Security and compliance b. Product details c. Quotation d. "More details" tab
Method 2: Batch upload
Step 1: Visit the page for bulk product upload.
Step 2: Under "Download Spreadsheet", select "Get Product Template".
Step 3: Open the template and fill in the following four columns (contact seller support if there are any issues with uploading):
🔸 Column A "feed_product_type": Provide the product type of the ASIN for which you want to update the country of origin/origin information. 🔸 Column B "item_sku": Provide the SKU for which you want to update the country of origin/origin information. 🔸 Column update_delete (location varies by product type): Select "PartialUpdate" (this setting ensures that the attribute values in your catalog that are not populated in the template remain unchanged). 🔸 Column country_of_origin (location varies by product type): Provide the country of origin/origin information for the product
Step 4: Save a copy of the file.
Step 5: Go to the "Upload Your Inventory File" page.
Step 6: Browse to find your file, or drag and drop the file, and then click upload.
If the seller does not know the country of origin of the goods, they can contact the corresponding supplier.
